On Sunday, August 31st at 11:47 pm local time, a magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan near the Pakistan border. It was a shallow quake with a depth of 8km, making it particularly destructive. The quake was followed by multiple aftershocks, including a 4.5-magnitude and two 5.2-magnitude events.
